Frequently Asked Questions

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.

Is there nearby parking?

Yes, you may park on the street behind us (Stephen F. Austin Dr.). The street is metered from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM during weekdays only. There is no metering on weekends or holidays.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open from 6 AM until dusk every day, except Thanksgiving afternoon and Christmas Day.

 

Do you provide life vests?

Yes, we provide life vests at no extra charge for all customers. All children aged 14 and under must wear a life vest. All others must have a life vest with them.

Are we permitted to bring alcohol with us on the river?

City laws prohibit you from bringing alcoholic beverages with you on the TRC premises, the TRC dock or on the river. APD patrols the river and may issue citations to violators.

 

Do you have life vests for dogs?

Yes, we provide life vests for dogs at no extra charge.

 

What is the minimum age for kids to paddle on their own?

Kids aged 16 and older may rent without a parent provided they have a parent-signed waiver. Kids aged 8 to 15 may paddle their own kayaks or stand up paddleboards provided their parents are on the water with them.

What is the minimum age for kids to be on the water?

There is no minimum age provided their parents are on the water with them. We have life vests of all sizes.

 

Do you have summer camps for kids?

Yes, we offer weekly summer camps for elementary, middle, and high-school students throughout the summer. Please follow our “Summer Camps” link on our website menu.

 

Are there toilets?

Yes, we have porta-potties. There are flushing toilets in bathrooms beneath the MoPac bridge about 400 yards away.

Do you have changing rooms or lockers?

No, but you are welcome to change in our porta-potties. We do provide each customer with a box for small items such as wallets, purses, keys, and phones.

Where can I leave my stuff?

In addition to the small boxes we provide for wallets, purses, keys and phones, you may leave a backpack or bag with us. You may leave clothes and shoes under our tent on the dock. We recommend that you leave valuables in the trunk of your car.

 

Do we need paddling experience to rent?

No, everyone receives instruction on how to operate the kayaks, canoes, or stand up paddle on the dock before launching. Paddling is very safe and we will teach you what you need to know for a safe and fun time on Lady Bird Lake!

 

Can I launch my own boat from your dock?

Yes, you are welcome to launch your own equipment from our dock. We want to create a community around TRC.

 

What discounts do you have?

Please contact us at info@texasrowingcenter.com for information about discounts. All active military members and their families receive an extra hour free.

 

Is there a limit to how long I can rent?

You may stay out as long as you want, provided you return by sunset.

Can I reserve my kayak, canoe, or SUP online?

No, we have a massive fleet and there is no need for a reservation unless you are renting for one of our two special events – Latino Moonlight Serenades or July 4th Fireworks. To reserve a kayak, stand up paddle or a canoe for those events, please follow the “Events” link on our website menu.
