Our Fun & Easy Program

Since 1987, the Texas Rowing Center has taught thousands of non-rowers to scull - the most symmetrical and natural form of rowing -through our Introduction-to-Rowing program.  Our skilled and friendly coaches make learning the sculling stroke fun and easy for ages 10 to 100.  And once you've learned to row a single, you can join one of our sculling team or sweep rowing programs!

Most students are rowing on Lady Bird Lake in their own single during the first lesson.

Why Rowing?

Ever notice that every gym and health club has at least one rowing machine?  That’s because fitness experts agree that rowing is one of the best aerobic, total-body exercises.  It not only burns calories and develops cardiovascular health, but also tones all major muscle groups, including the legs, arms, back and stomach.  And, of course, it’s great fun!
Our large and varied fleet of sweep and sculling shells ensures that we have the right boat for your size and skill level.  Through our four-lesson program, anyone can learn to row.

Individualized Attention

Unlike our competitors, Texas Rowing Center provides its students with individualized attention - lessons are taught one-on-one or in small groups.  Our instructors focus on you and your development so you enjoy a more relaxing and rewarding rowing experience.

Flexible Scheduling

We give sculling lessons all day, every day.  You choose your own lesson schedule from the following time-slots: 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. (when daylight permits)* - any day of the week!
