What are the benefits of rowing as a team?
- Team rowing can motivates rowers to row longer distances, thus building endurance/stamina in the sport
- Good way to get into competitive rowing
- Improve rowing skill/technique
- Team boat coaching provided by TRC (Saloni-Intro to Team Rowing; John-Team boat coaching for intermediate/advanced rowers)
- Provides that extra motivation to get out & row by making a commitment to be part of a team
- Team rowing is not only challenging, but is also fun & builds camraderie
I am new to Austin. Is this a good way to meet people?
- There is definitely a social side to the sport. Not only is it a good way to meet people but it is a great way to learn more about Austin.
What can a new person expect when they are getting started?
- Expect team rowing lessons/coaching from me either in a double or quad depending on other available new team rowers
- If the person likes team rowing & wants to continue, then a list of other team rowers with comparable skill level/experience will be provided by me so that a team can be formed
- Team boats lineups are based on skill level, personality, age, etc.
- You can expect to learn new terminology (i.e. "let it run", "all 4...ready...and..row", rating, ratio, etc)
- You can expect to learn more about the boat & rigging of the boat
What does a person need to do - for those already a TRC member- who want to join a team?

- It's best for both the rower & the coach if the rower is rowing in a 24' before taking the step to learn team rowing
- The rower new to team boats needs to have the basics of rowing under his/her belt
What does a person need to do to get started if not already a member?
- Take the "Intro to Rowing" lessons, row an aero, then a 24' before moving forward w/ team boats.
